The WhatsApp logo is placed within a Dark Splash Screen and the chats list is also treated to a black theme. The new Dark Mode for WhatsApp is redesigned in many aspects. Only users having iPhone 6s and above will be able to use Dark Mode on WhatsApp. Since the Dark Mode on WhatsApp uses iOS 13 API’s it will not be available for older iPhones that don’t support iOS 13.

In other words, the Dark Mode on WhatsApp will automatically switch on when the iOS users activate system-wide Dark Mode. In the meantime, the new Dark Mode on WhatsApp follows iOS system-wide Dark Mode setting guidelines. The Dark Mode in previous beta version suffered from battery drain issues and had trouble supporting iOS 13 APIs. We need to realize that the new Dark Mode is very different from the one launched before. The Dark Mode has now rolled out to beta users on TestFlight and it is only a matter of time before it ends up in production builds.
