I'll try and get myself a PAL VCR just to see what happens, but frankly I have no idea if this is really the issue or what's happening. So I went ahead and I got myself an NTSC VCR. First they told me something about SCART (it's the first google result when you google the issue), and then they told me something about PAL/NTSC, that it won't work on hybrid VCRs and stuff. I contacted tech support and they've not been helpful at all. When I tried it with a VCR, I can only get a green screen on the capturing software: just a second of audio, and then it stops. I connected the camera to the VIDBOX converter and into my mac, all cool.
When I first tried it with an old Sony Camera, everything worked just fine. It's a little device that lets me put composite video (RCA) and output it to USB to my computer with dedicated software. Here my situation: I bought a VIDBOX Video Converter. Hey! It's been a week of constant troubleshooting and I still can't get this to work.
